As daylight shifts and interiors take on a deeper register, surface becomes more present. Dense boucle, brushed wool, and velvety pile change the way rooms are read and inhabited. Textiles that catch light or mute it bring a seasonal quiet to seating and floor. This week we look at pieces defined by touch and density as autumn settles in.
LOAFER DINING SIDE CHAIR
Space Copenhagen
A new version of the original Loafer chair from Space Copenhagen, the Loafer Dining Side chair reimagines the design without arms. Upholstered in a textured velvet, the form of the chair reads as a compact volume with softened edges, giving weight and warmth without visual noise. The inward curve of its back and the fullness of its seat produce a gentle enclosure that provides a comfortable dining experience.
SAN FRANCISCO RUG
Woodnotes
Paper yarn introduces a matte tactility that resists sheen and settles into a space with quiet authority. In the San Francisco rug from Woodnotes, subtle banding and controlled contrast create rhythm underfoot. The rug’s integrity comes from the material itself and the expert patterning of the design. It performs beautifully in high-use areas while retaining a refined and architecturally minded character.
PACHA
Pierre Paulin
Pierre Paulin’s Pacha sits close to the earth and works by volume rather than line. In boucle, the surface absorbs light and softens the chair’s presence, giving it a quiet and upholstered density. The armrest version of Pacha increases its coziness and turns the chair from a sculptural element into a place to remain, suited to spaces that prioritize comfort without visual excess. Matching ottoman also available.
WILLIAM STORMS PILLOWS
William Storms
Local Brooklyn textile artist William Storms works with density, nap, and edge to produce pillows that function as objects. Whether used on the floor or as throw pillows, the pieces introduce warmth through weight and surface rather than overt pattern. Their palette and construction allow them to integrate into formal rooms and relaxed spaces alike, adding substance at the scale of touch.
SQUARE 16 SOFA
DePadova
Square 16 is a modular sofa which operates through proportion and restraint, allowing the upholstery to assume the lead role. Shown here in Sivas, a velvety textile with a plush pile and even absorption of light, the sofa reads as a continuous piece with softened geometry. The low back and controlled seat depth make it comfortable for longer use while keeping the silhouette visually quiet.
