For decades, PP Møbler has stood as one of Denmark’s most revered workshops, entrusted with bringing Hans J. Wegner’s most intricate designs to life. This week, we highlight PP Møbler’s 2025 Rare Woods Editions, a limited release of five iconic Wegner chairs crafted in wengé, walnut, or mahogany. Each chair is fitted with a discreet brass plate engraved with model number, wood type, and edition number. Quantities of each chair vary, making these editions compelling for collectors and designers alike.
PP505 COW HORN
Hans J. Wegner
Compact in scale and generous in craft, the Cow Horn Chair is defined by its sculpted back elements that meet at a central joint before sweeping outward into “horns.” In wengé, a dense, dark African hardwood celebrated for its fine, straight grain and deep chocolate to almost black tone, the form reads crisp and architectural. PP505 is an ideal chair for dining where clearance and comfort both matter. The rare series also offers Cow Horn in a walnut variant.
PP502 SWIVEL CHAIR
Hans J. Wegner
The PP502 Swivel Chair combines the sculptural warmth of solid wood with the practicality of a modern swivel base. In this rare edition crafted in mahogany, the rich tone and fine grain emphasize the chair’s sweeping back rail and carefully balanced proportions. Height adjustability and smooth rotation ensure ease at the desk or table. Each chair is meticulously handcrafted using traditional joinery techniques, creating a piece as dynamic as it is elegant. Also available in wengé.
PP501/503 ROUND CHAIR
Hans J. Wegner
Known simply as “The Chair,” Wegner’s Round Chair is celebrated for its flowing armrest and exacting joinery. For the Rare Edition, wengé hardwood amplifies the sculptural ring with a rich, even grain; choose a handwoven cane seat (PP501) or an upholstered seat (PP503) to suit the setting. The arm components are carved from carefully conditioned stock, a process that takes years and speaks to PP Møbler’s illustrious cabinetmaking culture.
PP701 MINIMAL
Hans J. Wegner
The Minimal Chair balances a refined steel understructure with a solid-wood arm and back element, creating a crisp dialogue between metal and hardwood. In this rare mahogany edition, the chair gains warmth and a deeper tactile presence without losing its disciplined silhouette. The result is a versatile dining or desk piece with clear lineage and collectible specificity. Also available in wengé.
PP250 VALET
Hans J. Wegner
Wegner’s Valet Chair turns daily ritual into sculpture. The shaped back functions as a hanger, the seat conceals practical storage, and the three-legged stance keeps the form light and purposeful. In wengé, the dark, linear grain underscores the chair’s graphic and architectural profile.
