There are pieces that ask you to sit, and then there are pieces that make settling in feel inevitable. This week is about the latter: generous upholstery, enveloping forms, and materials chosen with comfort in mind. From a Danish design icon known for its exceptional sit to deeply cushioned Italian sofas and lounge chairs, these are pieces made for slowing down, stretching out, and staying awhile.
HAMPTON SOFA
CRD Verzelloni
The Hampton sofa takes a more relaxed approach to tailoring, particularly in the skirted version currently on view in our showroom. Beneath its removable upholstery is a carefully engineered combination of differentiated-density polyurethane, elastic webbing, and feather-filled back and seat cushions. The result is generous without feeling overstuffed, with the soft character of feather upholstery adding to its invitation to settle in.
PAPA BEAR
Hans J. Wegner
Some chairs earn their reputation for comfort; the Papa Bear has made it part of its identity. Hans J. Wegner's 1951 classic surrounds the sitter with generous armrests and a sculpted back, while traditional upholstery layers cotton, flax fiber, palm leaves, horsehair, and coil springs for remarkably responsive support. Each chair is hand-crafted over a minimum of two weeks, and the natural materials are designed to soften and become even more comfortable with use. Papa Bear is currently on display in our Park Avenue showroom.
CHARLOT
CRD Verzelloni
Soft curves do much of the talking here. Charlot is a modular seating system built around generous, enveloping volumes and a distinctive rounded armrest that gives the composition its character. Featuring fully removable upholstery and integrated seat cushions, the sofa adapts easily to its surroundings. The many available elements make it possible to create anything from an intimate arrangement to a more expansive setting for lounging and conversation. Currently on display in our showroom.
EDDA
Federica Biasi
Low to the ground and quietly inviting, the new Edda lounge chair reinterprets the archetype of the Japanese floor chair through a distinctly contemporary lens. Federica Biasi pairs soft, sculpted upholstery with visible stitching and a solid ash wood base, creating a chair where the construction remains part of the expression. Available in fabric or leather, Edda brings a sense of intimacy to the room without sacrificing its refined simplicity.
ZOE
Lievore, Altherr, Molina
Forget the frame entirely. Zoe is built without a supporting structure, instead taking its shape from a series of chambers filled with expanded polystyrene pearls beneath a 100% cotton twill cover. The result is a remarkably informal seat that responds naturally to the body, with soft, fluid volumes that encourage a deeper kind of relaxation. Available in multiple sizes and upholstery options, Zoe is designed to be lived in.
