The beauty of a well-made piece often reveals itself in the details: a perfectly cast fitting, a hand-finished surface, a carefully executed joint, or the subtle evidence of a skilled maker's hand. This week, we're taking a closer look at five designs where craftsmanship is an intrinsic part of the experience. Our close-up images offer a glimpse at the details that set each piece apart; explore the full product stories for a closer look at the designs in their entirety or visit our showroom to experience in person.
APPENZELLER SIDEBOARD
Seitz
The Appenzeller Sideboard is distinguished by details that reward a closer look. Solid brass knobs and traditional Appenzell ornaments punctuate the clean timber construction, while soft-closing hardware brings an understated sense of luxury to the everyday. Each element has a purpose, from the adjustable interior shelving to the discreet cord escape at the base, resulting in a piece where function and craftsmanship are considered down to the smallest detail. Available in blackened ash, natural oak, walnut, whitened oak.
DUETTO RUG
Woodnotes
There is something particularly beautiful about a textile made slowly, by hand. The Duetto Rug is intricately handwoven from paper yarn and cotton, creating a subtle interplay of texture and tone across its surface. A paper cord edge provides a finely finished border, while the reversible construction allows either side of the rug to be featured. The result is a deceptively simple rug whose craftsmanship becomes more apparent the closer you look.
PP501/PP503 ROUND CHAIR
PP Møbler
Few pieces demonstrate the art of woodworking quite like Hans J. Wegner's Round Chair. The chair's distinctive frame is shaped from solid timber using techniques that require exceptional precision, with the sweeping back and armrest formed as a continuous element. At PP Møbler, much of the work remains in the hands of skilled craftsmen, who carefully shape, join, sand, and finish each chair. The result is a design whose simplicity leaves nowhere for imperfect craftsmanship to hide.
MOON SCONCE
Entrelacs
The Moon wall sconce brings together two materials with very different personalities. Expertly cast patinated bronze is paired with alabaster which introduces natural variation and a softly diffused glow to the lamp. No two pieces of stone are exactly alike, making each sconce subtly individual. Here, the character of the materials and the precision of their execution become the design itself. Available in two sizes.
DAN SVARTH SOFA
A. Petersen
The Dan Svarth Sofa is an exceptional example of what happens when leatherwork is treated as an art rather than simply an upholstery finish. Each panel of its luxurious leather is cut from a single hide and carefully hand-stitched around the form, eliminating visible seams across the sofa's back surface. The uninterrupted expanse allows the character of the hide to remain fully visible, while the craftsmanship is revealed in every precise stitch and carefully resolved edge. A sustainably sourced mahogany frame outlines the silhouette, creating a striking contrast between the warm wood and rich leather.
