Taking a traditional wool winder as inspiration, designer Samuel Wilkinson has created a new iconic chandelier, Sorpresa, that automatically opens out and expands in a single effortless gesture. The warm tone of the sanded oak structure elegantly complements the off-white transparent mesh of subtle horizontal patterns, defining the distinctive airiness of the lamp, soft and approachable. Crafted from recycled and recyclable materials, the Sorpresa's shade is made of a mesh fabric that gently diffuses light, revealing the geometric outlines of its expertly assembled oak frame. Instead of an embedded LED solution Sorpresa uses a bulb as light source to support environmental responsibility at all levels of the design.

And while most oversized lamps require some assembly, Sorpresa is ready to use right out of the box: thanks to its ingenious frame mechanism, the lamp unfolds straight from the package, ready to be hung! With a width of one meter, the Sorpresa makes an impressive choice for lighting above a dining table or in a living space – particularly in more spacious rooms where it can be surrounded by ample open space.
